Spirit Realm
How Spirit Realm works in JoJo: Golden Spirit — the hex board, spirit promotion tiers, holes, and the Realm Bonus set effect.
This "Spirit Realm" is a per-character gear-and-board system — not to be confused with the Spirit Realm section elsewhere on this site, which covers thematic zones tied to each JoJo Part. Same name, two different things; see the note at the bottom of this guide.
Spirit Realm unlocks at Account Lv.13 as an additional, per-character power layer. Each character gets their own hex-shaped board that opens up gradually as that character levels, with room for up to three equipped spirit powers. Promoting a spirit expands its footprint on the board, and the combined quality of what's equipped earns the character a bonus on top — the Realm Bonus.
Board size scales with character level
A fully unlocked board has 18 hex cells, but a character only sees that many once they're leveled enough. The rollout runs in four steps: 9 cells once Spirit Realm first opens at Lv.45, 12 at Lv.50, 15 at Lv.60, and the full 18 at Lv.80. Up to three spirit powers can be placed at once, each claiming a cluster of cells that grows every time it's promoted.
What promotion unlocks, tier by tier
Each promotion tier adds to a spirit's footprint in a fixed order — first more base slots, then random-stat sockets called holes, and only at the final tier a single enhance slot:
| Tier | Base slots | Holes | Enhance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 |
| 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 |
| 4 | 2 | 2 | 0 |
| 5 | 2 | 3 | 0 |
| 6 | 2 | 3 | 1 |
At full promotion that's 2 base attributes, 3 holes, and 1 enhance slot per spirit.
Quality is a separate axis from promotion
Spirits also carry one of five quality tiers, independent of the promotion table above. Raising a spirit's slot count means feeding it another spirit that shares its exact quality and slot count — the fed spirit is consumed, the target gains a slot, and its quality stays put. A lower-quality material can still be used, just with worse odds of success. The only way to obtain a higher-quality spirit in the first place is through drops or crafting; combining lower-quality spirits together never produces one.
Holes, defined
A hole is a socket that rolls a random stat from the same pool of offensive and defensive stats used throughout the rest of the game, once something is slotted into it. Tier 5 is where a spirit first carries all three holes; the enhance slot only appears at tier 6.
The Realm Bonus
Separately from what each individual spirit contributes, the game totals the slot count across all spirits of matching quality among your three equipped. Crossing 6, 12, or 18 total slots of one quality unlocks a flat Damage and Damage Reduction bonus for that character, topping out at +7.5%/+7.5% once all 18 slots are filled at the highest quality (18 is the hard ceiling — three fully-promoted spirits cap at 6 slots apiece). Only the single highest threshold reached applies; the bonuses from lower brackets don't stack on top of it.
Where to farm the materials
Double Clash is the main source of Spirit Realm materials, and clearing a higher difficulty there at full stars speeds up promotion. That's not a coincidence — Double Clash and Spirit Realm both unlock at Account Lv.13 specifically because they're meant to be pushed as a pair.
Not the same system as Collectibles
Spirit Realm and Collectibles sit next to each other in the game's menu but do unrelated things: Spirit Realm is the per-character board covered on this page, while Collectibles is a separate set of account-wide bonuses you unlock and switch on. Progress moves forward on both at the same time, with neither gating the other.
This site also has a "Spirit Realm" section covering thematic zones tied to each JoJo Part — that's an unrelated, still-placeholder concept built early on and not the same system described above. We're aware of the name collision and will reconcile it in a later pass.
