Formation, Weather, and Combat Basics
A quick orientation to JoJo: Golden Spirit's formation grid, real-time weather, and RUSH mode, with links to the full guide behind each system.
New to the game? Start with How JoJo: Golden Spirit Works first — this guide builds on that one. The three systems below each got sparse, conceptual coverage here originally; all three now have a full guide with real confirmed numbers, linked from each section.
The formation grid
Battles take place on a fixed, countable board, and where you place each character matters as much as who you bring — positioning changes how characters interact with enemies and with each other. The confirmed panel count, the Ranged distance bonus, and how to plan a formation before the exact layout is public are all in the Formation Grid guide.
Weather affects abilities in real time
The game runs a real-time environment system with 18 possible battlefield conditions, and it affects every unit on the field, not just yours. Two of those conditions — blizzards and heavy fog — have confirmed effects, plus a handful of characters with their own individual weather reactions. Full breakdown in the Weather System guide.
RUSH mode and finishers
RUSH is a team-wide damage window triggered by landing Ultimates from three different fighting styles close together, and it's one of the best-documented mechanics in the game pre-launch — exact trigger conditions, the damage bonus, and the Energy system behind it are covered in Energy & Cooldowns.
