Reroll Guide

Why most players shouldn't reroll in JoJo: Golden Spirit, and how to plan a first account around the Standard banner's pity instead.

What a reroll should actually target

Character Recruitment is the right pool to aim for on a fresh account — it's permanent, every SSR in it stays useful long-term, and it's the pool that feeds the selector milestones covered below. Limited and Featured banners aren't worth chasing for a reroll specifically, since they rotate: whatever's live today might be gone by the time you actually settle into an account.

The real rates and pity thresholds

Character Recruitment's published numbers:

  • SSR: 2% base rate
  • SR: 35% base rate
  • R: 63% base rate
  • SSR soft pity: guaranteed every 60 recruitments, with the counter resetting on any SSR — whether it was rolled naturally or handed to you by pity.
  • Duplicate pulls convert into shards for that character instead of going to waste.

Two further milestones stack on top of the 60-pull guarantee: reach 180 pulls and 300 pulls and each unlocks its own selector, letting you personally choose an SSR from the pool — independent of, and in addition to, the random guarantee. Pull all the way to 300 and you'll have collected several random SSRs plus two of your own picking. The banner page itself lists the full current roster.

The Ability pool matters just as much

A character's full kit is split across two things: the unit itself, and the Ability shards that unlock and level their signature moves. Character Recruitment gets you the former; Ability Recruitment gets you the latter.

Ability Recruitment shares Character Recruitment's rates and 60-pull SSR pity, but adds a wishlist mechanic — pre-select which SSR abilities you're after and the pull rate shifts toward them — with its selector arriving earlier, at 150 pulls.

Treat the two pools as inseparable: a character without their ability shards is only half-built, and shards without the character do nothing at all.

Is rerolling worth it?

Usually not. Landing one copy of an SSR is where that character's investment starts, not where it ends — duplicates and a fleshed-out Ability tree are what separate a functional SSR from a genuinely strong one, and building either takes real time no matter which account you're playing on. Cycling through disposable accounts chasing one specific SSR rarely repays the effort once you're actually settled in and building a roster.

Guest accounts do let you sample a fresh start without burning an email address, but the question worth asking isn't "did this account give me an SSR" — it's "is this an account worth continuing to invest in." For most players, sticking with the first real account and planning around the pity selectors is the more honest path forward.

The practical steps

  1. Get into the game in the first place — see How to Download.
  2. Push through the early content until you've got enough Astrogems for a real pull session on Character Recruitment.
  3. Plan toward the pity thresholds in order — 60-pull guarantee, then the 180 selector, then the 300 selector. Pity Strategy has the full spending breakdown.
  4. Set your Ability Recruitment wishlist around whoever you actually pulled.
